The Squarespace Showcase Edit 07: Playe
Since we launched in 2017, we’ve been using Squarespace to create beautifully bespoke websites. Over the 5 years, we’ve launched countless numbers of Squarespace websites, through both our bespoke website design and build service here at Studio 77, and also through our sister company Squarebase, which sell plug-and-go Squarespace website templates.
We love using Squarespace as a platform to build our clients’ websites on because it’s easy for our clients to use to maintain their website, and it gives us plenty of freedom to do our thang (no that’s not a typo) with our advanced knowledge of Squarespace coding.
It really is a win-win situation!
The Squarespace Showcase Edit 07: Playe
In our seventh edition of The Squarespace Showcase, we’re shining a spotlight on content creation company, Playe.
They asked us at Studio 77 to create a sleek and interactive single-page Squarespace website that will give businesses a feel for the simplicity of working with them.
Playe Pro has already worked with global businesses such as The Body Shop and B Lab in their newly launched start-up and we at Studio 77 are incredibly excited to see how the site and business grow.
Playe’s Squarespace website objectives were:
Create a simple but interactive page that takes people through the journey of working with Playe
Act as an easy-to-access landing page for clients to log in and get in touch
Create a playful yet professional atmosphere on a single page Squarespace site

Custom Squarespace Design Features
Playe wanted a simple one page Squarespace websit that showcased all the services they offer, sectors they work in, and their easy process.
Here are just some of the custom elements and plug-ins we added to the Squarespace website design:
Added java and CSS to the simple list feature in Squarespace to create tabbed content
Created custom image crops that matched the brand’s graphics using custom CSS
Add a simple hover animation to the buttons to make them more enjoyable to interact with

In 1 week we wrote over 500 lines of custom CSS code and built two custom pages.
Don’t forget about mobile!
On top of this, we also added bespoke mobile code to make sure that the Squarespace website works seamlessly on mobile and tablet, as well as desktop. When using lots of custom code it’s important to check that the website renders perfectly on mobile, sometimes the additional code snippets can affect Squarespace’s built-in responsiveness.
Bespoke Squarespace Training
We teach all of our clients how to use and update their website with our bespoke video training at the end of the project, all of our clients say how easy it is for them to update their website after the training. (Although we do offer Squarespace maintenance packages for those who need additional help or are too busy doing all of the other business-owner stuff.)
The Squarespace Website Design
The aim of the site was to get across the array of services that the client offered, as well as displaying the brand’s personality, all whilst not being too overwhelming for the user.
The site has a playful feel, using all of the brand’s vibrant colours and graphics, combined with darker background colours and more professional images and sections to keep the aesthetic grounded.
This Squarespace website includes custom sections such as a tabbed area which showcases the streamlined process of working with Playe, as well as custom testimonial blocks with coded border radiuses to reflect the branded graphics.
