Causing a Buzz
Not for profit
Branding, website design, email design
Here at Studio 77, we understand that education is the primary force behind positive changes. Therefore we leapt at the chance to partner with Causing a Buzz, a start-up campaign to raise awareness around the pressing need to preserve and save our waning bee populations.
We took the brand’s aesthetic in a modern direction, with a chrome finished logo and bold coloured modules. Our goal was to present a user journey and brand experience that embraced modern solutions and created the groundwork for a digital infrastructure that could grow and expand as the organisation gained momentum. The module system also allowed for content to be easily constructed and distributed to users.
The user journey we crafted was a result of research not only into the user flow of other not-for-profit sites but also from the intuitive behaviour of bees in a hive. Simple and distinctive iconography was created to allow users to navigate the site quickly and efficiently, keeping as few interactions between users and the content they were searching for. These were served to users intelligently over time - based not only on the type of membership they held but also on which areas of the site they interacted with most regularly.
To emphasise the idea of a growing community, we engineered several design elements to reflect this. The logo itself draws inspiration from an obvious honeycomb aesthetic, as well as representing the three sectors represented by the thought leaders behind the project. Additionally, emails were designed to reflect the layout of the site so as to be easily accessible to readers no matter what device they were viewed on, but also so they could be hosted within the website in an archive for easy retrieval.
